The GLSS offers solo sailors the opportunity to compete in singlehanded events from June through September, and we attempt to post the dates and related material early enough so that skippers may plan to participate in them. We do recognize that from time to time, our events may conflict with other sailing opportunities, or that the rigors of everyday life may prevent you from participating in one of our events. There are events sponsored by other organizations that may be of interest to solo sailors. Toward that end, we are ardent supporters of sailing events that are hosted by other organizations, such as the Mackinac Island Yacht Club, Little Current Yacht Club, Belmont Yacht Club, the Doublehanded Sailing Association, the Lake Michigan Singlehanded Society, and the Trans Erie Yacht Race. As we receive information on their events, we will post it here in the form of a link that will take you directly to their website. If you represent a singlehanded or doublehanded sailing organization and would like to have your regatta information listed on our website, please send your event information to the webmaster, and we'll be happy to post it. 2010 Mackinac Island Yacht Club Press ReleaseThe Mackinac Island Yacht Club has been a long time supporter of the GLSS - without their cooperation, our Solo Mac Challenges would be a shell of what they are today. The MIYC is involved in a couple of events that may be of interest to GLSS members - read more about it in the 2010 MIYC Press Release. 2010 MIYC Round the Island Race - July 21The 2010 MIYC Round the Island Race will take place on July 21, with a start at 1:00 PM EDT. It typically requires less than 2.5 hours to complete and is followed by an awards presentation and party at Windermere Point. The $60 entry fee includes free dockage at the Arnold UTP Coal Dock, courtesy of the Arnold Transportation Company. For more information, please see the 2010 MIYC Round the Island Flyer. 2010 Mackinac Island to Manitoulin Island MacMan Challenge - July 22-24The 7th annual MacMan Challenge will start on July 22 with a leg from Mackinac Island to Gore Bay. There will be a fish fry in Gore Bay Friday evening, the 23rd, and the final leg from Gore Bay to Little Current will take place on the 24th.
