The King's Cup
New in 2010 to the GLSS is the King's Cup Race from St. Joseph (MI) to Chicago and back. This offers another opportunity for some solo sailing in the southern part of Lake Michigan. The 2010 documents are available for downloading - get your entry in today, and be a part of the inaugural event!

Fourth Lake Erie Solo Challenge

Non-member skippers who successfully complete the Lake Erie Solo Challenge, and have their finish approved by the Board of Directors will be granted membership in the GLSS.

Lake Michigan Solo Scramble
The 2010 Lake Michigan Solo Scramble Documents are now available for downloading. This is a great event, get your entry in today!
Concurrent starts Friday afternoon from Holland and Racine with the fleets proceeding to the mid-lake weather buoy 45007, and thence to a finish at Michigan City. A BBQ will follow Saturday evening at the Michigan City Yacht Club for racers and guests.

Lake Superior Solo Scramble
The documents for the 2010 Lake Superior Solo Scramble are now available for downloading. The event will feature two starts, one from Superior, WI, and the other from Bayfield, WI. There will be a common finish at beautiful Silver Bay, MN. Each of the starts will feature a 100 mile course, so it may be used as a solo qualifier as long as the time to complete the course is greater than 24 hours under sail.
This looks to be a great event, particularly for those skippers who are contemplating a future Trans Superior Solo. Get your entry in today, and be part of this inaugural event!

Lower Lake Huron Solo
The 2010 Lower Huron Solo Documents are now available for downloading. Get yours today and be a part of some great fall sailing!
This is a 42nm race with a Canadian flair, as the start/finish are just off of Sarnia, Ontario. Following the race, there will be a BBQ and Awards Ceremony at the Sarnia Yacht Club.

St. Clair Solo & Big Al's Steak Roast
The 2009 St. Clair Solo Application and Waiver, Sailing Instructions, and Flyer are posted for informational purposes only. The 2010 documents will be posted as soon as they are available.
In conjunction with the St. Clair Solo, GLSS sponsors the annual Big Al's Steak Roast. The Steak Roast will be held at North Star Sail Club. Even if you are not participating in the St. Clair Solo, come on out and enjoy an excellent meal and the great camaraderie of fellow solo sailors in the season finale of scheduled GLSS events!

The Chicago Open House will be held at the Chicago Yacht Club. The Open House features presentations conducted by GLSS members on many aspects of singlehanded sailing. There will be a cash bar and light appetizers served.

Detroit Area Open House - North Star Sail Club
The Detroit Open House will be held at the North Star Sail Club. The Open House affords an excellent opportunity for "right coast" skippers who would like more information on the sport of solo sailing. There will be a slide show presentation by GLSS member Noel Brockman, something not to be missed if you're contemplating one of the Solo Challenges. |

The 2010 Mac Solo Challenge Documents are posted for informational purposes only. The 2011 documents will be posted when available.
Non-member skippers who successfully complete either of the Mackinac Solo Challenges, and have their finish approved by the Board of Directors will be granted membership in the GLSS. Both the Port Huron and Chicago starts are on the same day, with all successful sailors finishing at Mackinac Island for the awards luncheon, held on Wednesday following the starts at the Mackinac Island Yacht Club.

The 2009 Trans-Superior Solo Challenge Documents are posted for informational purposes only. The 2011 forms will be posted when available, usually in January.
Non-member skippers who successfully complete the Sault Ste. Marie to Duluth Solo Challenge, and have their finish approved by the Board of Directors will be granted membership in the GLSS. In terms of length, this race ranks behind only the GLSS Super Macs as the longest freshwater singlehanded race in the world!
